It says 357 Rem. Mag because Remington was the FIRST to offer the cartridge as a factory-available load. When a company does say they get to name the cartridge whatever they want. So of course, Remington put their name on the cartridge. Why wouldn't they? The cartridge is 'technically' named 357 rem. mag. but there are dozens of companies that load it now days. If the Winchester company loads the 357 rem mag...it is still called the 357rem mag. If Hornady loads it, it is still called the 357 rem mag. If you hear people talk about the "357magnum" they are talking about the 357 rem mag.
The 270 Win is the same way. Winchester was the first to make it, so they put their name on it....even though other companies make that cartridge now, its name is still the ".270 Winchester"

It used to be my Colt Mustang Mark IV Series 80 .380 , stainless plus 2.
Until someone decided they needed it more than I did, and stole it.
Would love to have another one.
