i am thinking about getting a Henry Big Boy rifle. anybody have any input as far as caliber (.44, .45, or .357). Any information anybody has about henry lever action rifles would be greatly appreciated. i have never owned a lever actionbefore.

IMO, I would go with a Marlin 1894 and also have a side arm in that caliber.

Henry rifles aren't what they used to be in the old days.
IMO, Now, they are just pathetic in quality. Waay over priced too!
Take the Lucky Man's advice.(Rebel Hog) Get the Marlin '94.

One of the best CowBoy action shooter(Evil Roy) shoots the henry rifle and won many competions with it. I own a marlin in a 44 I love it so the choice is 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other. hard choice if it was up to me

He probably uses an antique Henry. Those, are good rifles.
One type had a HUGE (as in,long) barrel! Those were pretty accurate too, but now, I think that Henry Repeating Arms Co. makes their rifles too small, if you look at pictures of the Henrys, they hold the forestock with their FINGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [:@]

I've been to a gun shop where they sell Henrys, and the Big Boy rifle was pretty darn small in comparison to the Marlins. The barrels were very short. I would get a Marlin. I also think that Henrys are also heavily overpriced.
