8. 460 Smith (and even more POWER) (guilty)
9. 500 Smith (No such thing as overkill, kills em deader than dead)
10. 45GAP (oh can't believe they were able to improve such a perfect round as the 45ACP, but somehow they pulled it out)
11. Five-seveN® (I mean you never know when you have to shoot thru body armor)[8D]
12. 6.8mm SPC (hard tax money at work)[:-]

I put down the ones I thought we're the greatest creations of cartridges. But it's hard to give anything more than opinion here, except the 30-06. ithas to bethe greatest creation of a cartridge ever.

Seriously guys, you can't forget the 303british or 8mm Mauser. Kinda shaped the world, don't ya think?

They didnt really thrive their whole life like the ones Ive listed though. 220 swift for example, took contraversy for all those years and now it's right back on top. the swede also. The rest have lived forever and never died, never will.

Don't forget the 7.62 rimmed Rooskie. Its been in use longer than the US .30, .303, and 8mm, and is still in use today.

4. 222 Rem.
5. 45-70 Gov.
6. 7x57 Mauser
7. 303 British.
8. 30-30 Win
9. 30-06 Springfield
10. 300 H&H
11. 375 H&H
12. 44 Special/44 Mag.

This list of cartridges has enjoyed long life and in many cases started or changed a trend. It's about impossible to leave the 270 off the list and of course, I never would.. Same for the 6.5x55.

sorry i was not clear in the original thread starter. i wanted to hear your top twelve. to make a real top twelve that was not an opinion would just be off of stats. and maybe everyone going for one caliber may make it popular but is it the best? most of the people i know like a calibers because their daddy had one, or their brother made that crazy shot with it, or you borrowed one from your uncle on your first hunt. heaven knows that is why i like the 30-06 so much.(dad's gun) and his worked everytime you cant despute that.
