RE: Remington 700ADL w/ Scope for $449
This will start an arguement but I would not put a scope on anything to hunt with that costs less than $200 or mounts that were less $50. You don't know how many times I have sold scopes to people that just bought a package deal. I think it was Savage that had a model 110 promotion once where you got a simmons red ring, mounts, and scope from walmart. I will bet all of those scopes were replaced eventually, I know I did 3-4 personally.
Cheaper scopes might have a good picture but they can not take abuse of large recoil and stresses of hunting.
The gun does have the aggravation of no drop down floorplate, but I will put it up against anything in its general price range. No drop will save you $100 + with no sacrafice of accuracy or reliability. The gun is a great value, package is not. The gun with a Buckmaster 3x9x40 and Leupold or Redfield rings andbase should go for $650. Anything less, stick with the 30-30 or slug gun.

Yea, most of my guns and scopes cost the same. Not that a highprice says you get a good scope, buta low price says you didn't.
I understanda person ona budget, Iaint rich, buta person on a buget understands better than anybody you better get value when you do make a big purchase.
But again price isn't everything, I have only seen a few Sawarski(sp) two would not hold zero.

Thanks for all the input. I ended up buying the 270 this afternoon. It really came down to that gun or the 7400 at wally world for $360. For some reason that was just a really really tough decision for me. $449 with a $150 cabelas gift card, I can't complain. Now I can't wait to bring it out to the range and give it a whirl. I'm also really excited to try the hornady leverevolution bullets in my marlin.
