I can't help it. If a quartering shot is presented to me, I'll take it. The BT is not as reliable for "all" types of shots I take. Though it may be for expert marksman, USMC. I can place my bullet within 1/2 inch anytime I need to so being a bad shot has nothing to do with my situation. I have had bad experiences with BT's and nothing but good from bonded tipped bullets in my 7mm. Now I use 150bt's in my 30-06 and love them. the lower velocity is better suited for them.
My 270 win with 55 gr of IMR4350 and 130 gr NBT has accounted for a least 30 deer. All but 2 dropped where they stood.
Well, the difference here is 3000-vs-3230fps. The BT will be a better suited bullet for a velocity around 2900-3000fps, which is what it's designed for, than 3200+fps, which the accubond and scirocco where made for.
So to the original poster: pick a bullet to go with your rifles velocity and hunting needs. As skeeter said.

Not trying to proclaim myself as an expert or insult anyone, and surly do not expect everyone to like the BT bullets. I just do not buy the stories of limbs flying off and holes the size of basketballs due to exploding bullets. Like I said I use them in the .270 WSM which is very close to your 7mm with no problems but to each their own, just please do not start the internet myth again that so many have debunked for years now.

Count me among those on the bad experience list with NBT's. 165 gr 30-06. Havent shot one since...this was in 1995.

I know about the myth youre referring to though. People do blow it out of porportion. But me myself have had some bad experience with them in my 7mm. They seem fine in the'06 though. They will fragment on impact with bone in some instances, as they have on me. I would try the nosler accubond in my 270wsm if I wereyou man. You will see better penetration with the same accuracy. And they wont fragment on bone as bad. It wont leave as quite big a hole as the BT and won't damage as much meat. Give em a try man. They make a 140gr accubond for the 270.

Many people choose the wrong BT for the job. The heavier weights per caliber are for big game while the lighter ones per caliber are meant for varmit hunting. I had a few problems with them in the 7 Mag years ago but they have been changed five times since they came out. The big game bullets per calibe are meant mainly for deer size game but have been used for elk as well. They have performed very well for me in rifles with lower velocities like the 250 Savage and 308. At 2600-2800 FPS they are darn hard to beat.

Ill agree on that. Theyre tough in the 26-2900 velocity range. They will make a small caliber look bigger for sure.Shoot a deer with a 25-06 and you'll think it was hit with a 280. I think the main reason behind the bonded tipped bullets is to make a flatter shooting, more accuate core-lokt that will open up a little quicker. Thats kinda what it boils down to really. They made them for high vel. rifles like 7mm and 300 mags. The sciroccos will make a bigger hole than I need. I think the 140gr accubonds will give me about the right medicine. I will be trying 165gr BT's in my 30-06 i believe.
