Springfield XD shooting low ?

Springfield XD shooting low ?
A friend of a friend was telling me today that the XD he got a few months ago is shooting low. It's the medium sized Service model in 357 sig. I looked the piece over just to rule out big stuff, but it looks OK.
I suggested shooting off the bench to eliminate as much of the human component as possible and that he was most likely pulling the shots low himself. If that wasn't the problem, I told him to try different ammo brands and types. He's currently shooting some European brand of 140 grain.
Has anyone had (or heard of ) problems with the regulation of the sights on an XD, specifically in 357 sig?

It could be him, but it could also be the ammo. all my handguns are particular to ammo not so much brands but projectile weight. he may try shooting a lighter grain bullet. I know the XD's sights are set for service weight bullets for the particular caliber its chambered for. Id recommend trying 125 grain ammo before ruling out that theres something wrong with the gun. good luck

The ammo is probably S&B, and it is pretty good stuff. It has always functioned very well in my XD 357. I would say it is probably shooter error. And it probably has to do with the trigger pull. What distance is he shooting at? Does he shoot handguns very much?

I'm not too sure on the distance, but it's in pretty close since he only shoots at an indooor range that is 75 feet. He's a relatively new shooter, so I think this is all about trigger control, myself. I pulled my Glock straight down to 6 o'clock when I first started shooting it years ago, and it has a very similar pull with stacking right before the break. Ammo weight can, of course affect POI, but I'm pretty sure it's him.
I just didn't want the poor guy banging his head against the wall if there was a known problem out there. Thanks.

i would say check the trigger control, (XD has a longer stiffer pull then he may be used to) and check the way he holds the gun. I beleive XD's are also set up for a 6 O'clock sighting.
I know when i got mine, i was shooting low too. I just had to adjust my grip and now i am pretty accurate. It shot different then my previous nine.

RE: Springfield XD shooting low ?
it could very well be shooter error, but is he grouping his shots? and is the group hitting low? if the gun is grouping then he may just need to adjust where he holds his sights on the target or change bullet weight. with my XD 45 tactical (5" barrel) at 15 yards the gun is dead on the money with 230 grain ball ammo but with 185 grain ammo the POI is about 6 inches high.
owell who knows seems youve got it all figured out so just forget about my advice.
