rem model 700 question

Default rem model 700 question

I havea rem model 700 chambered for 30-06 and when you flip the saftey foward on it it throws the firing pin down on the cartridge.iwas wondering if any body would know what is the matter with it. thanks for all who helps.

One of two things..your sear is not adjusted properly. you have gunk in your trigger which has to be flushed out and then re-oiled. Take it to a gunsmith so he can check it out.

Remington had a safety recall about 10 years back or so on a bunch of different models of Model 700s that would were firing when the bolt was closed/and or the safety was pushed forward. If its an older gun, it might fall into the re-call category.

Take it to the gunsmith and have it checked out like the others have stated.

definately take it to a gunsmith dont try to fix it yourself because who knows what could go wrong

When you move the safety rearwards and the bolt handle locks then you need a gunsmith to look at it. Remington will fix the problem not sure how much they charge anymore. I believe it was 20 dollars a while ago. Should be free but we are talking Remington aren't we?
