I don't bleed out my animals; I take the wind out of them by taking their lungs. Can't live if you can't breathe. Bowhunting and being a bowhunter helps one learn proper shot placement.

Fair point. I think he did mean a lung shot. It took 2 minutes for the damage to take effect.

nah, just like deer, it depends. I hit a cow, with a 30-06 and she acted like she was drunk while feeding, and then fell over 40 seconds later. And others hit run about 30 yards and die. Just depends on the animal. Nobody can predict it.

Sako 75 SS/syn 338win mag or 300RUM.
I'll second this post. Sako 75 SS/syn is my dream rifle and that caliber would be plenty good for Moose and a trouble Griz.

I've never been moose hunting either. But my first reactionwhen I readthis post was a 325 WSM in a Model 70 (if I could find one)

And then I'd wait on my uncle hand and foot on the trip!

I guess i'veharvested around 25 moose, they really aren't too hard to kill, if you use a bullet that expands well and also penetrates deep...

I have an uncle that could afford to buy all of us in this thread a moose hunt and the new gun too, but he never was into hunting much... He passed a few weeks ago at the age of 98, and i doubt anyof his money will be comeing this way.

Back to the gun, well, i guess i'd be looking for a NICES&S 9.3x74R, but i'd take another look at theS&S8x57jrs i saw at Cabella's too... Both will easily do the job.
