I feel I should add, I don't think the issue is a problem with the "Lead sled" per say. Actually it is with the people that use them. I hear people talking about using 50-100lbs of weight on them in order to shoot their guns. Then these shooters claim that the sled is sooo good because they don't feel any recoil....as if that is a surprise.

The Led slead is meant to "reduce" felt recoil...not to stop it! It is the people that don't realize this fact that are at the greatest risk of damaging their guns.

If the owners used the sled more wisely and realized that when they are shooting higher recoil guns they actually should beusing relatively less weight with the sled than when they are shooting low recoil guns, there would not be so many problems.

However, it seems the majority of the sled owners have no comprehension of these idea's...And that is the biggest problem with the sled...people treat it as some "recoil cure all" when in fact it is nothing more thananother brand of rest...and like any rest, if a shooter doesn't know how to use it properly...they probably should not be using it in the first place..

I just bought a Remington Model 700 Stainless SPS in 300 WSW, with a Ziess 4.5-12X44mm scope. I was nervous prior to shooting it the first time. To my surprise, the R3 recoil pad makes it very manageable. It kicks about as hard as my 12 gauge with slugs. I can group it as well as my .30-06.

I'm looking forward to hunting the clear cuts on our hunt club this year. You can really reach out with the 150 grain bullets. Fact is, I don't need anything more than the .30-06, but the .300 WSW is a great round.
