The Bisley Hunter got rid of the square trigger guard. I chorographed some more 44 Mag loads today. I shot the two of the same loads in the Ruger Hunter and the 4 inch Taurus Ukltralite. The Ruger gets 90-100 fps more velocity with the extra 3 1/2 inches of barrel. I was a little suprised thatthere was that much difference.
I have been trying to work up a couple reduced loads to shoot in the Taurus Ultralite. I found the light bullet load for it. I loaded 10.0 Gr of Unique behind the 200 Gr Nosler JHP. I am getting 1026 fps and the recoil is pleasant. Its sort of a 44 Special + P load. I loaded them in Magnum cases.
My Heavy bullet load is still in Progress. I am loading the Cast Performance 300 Gr WLNGC bullet. I first loaded 17.5 Gr of IMR 4227 and got about 1120 fps but that load is a handful in the Ultralite. I backed it off to 16.0 Gr of the same powder but that dropped it clear down to about 800 FPS. about half way should do the trick. The Taurus will handle the full power loads but the recoil at 28 Oz is fierce.
