Well there are two ways to look at a load for this gun. I could try a light weight bullet at all the velocity that I care to stretch out of it, Like the 180 grain XTP @1400-1500 fps. That would make a decent Whitetail load. However I will take the other approach and first try a cast bullet with a wide Meplat. Something like the 250-270 Wide Flat nose. At speeds of 900-1100 fps, you can expect a wound channel of around an inch and probably complete penetration of any deer or Caribou size critter and most likely it would exit an elk as well. You don't need to much velocity for excellent penetration with hard cast bullets and the wound channels are devestating. A wide Meplat (bullet Nose) like 300-360 is what causes the tissue and nerve damage. This could be a Keith style bullet but I prefer the LBT style bullets for wide nose bullets.

Cabelas sells an LBT style bullet of their sight and though its not made with LBT moulds, They are probably close enough to perform well.

I will keep you informed. This project has me looking forward to setting down at the reloading bench and getting back into the swing of things. I need a little more study on the alloys to look for as you want a very hard bullet but not hard enough to shatter.

I got it on the paper but thats all. Wind has been raising hell up here for two weeks. I was down to SoDak today and picked up some powder and some 130 grain Sierra Pro-Hunters. I am going to try IMR 4350 with the Pro Hunter. I also have some Ballistic tips, 140 gariners. I would like to see it settle in at about 2900 fps with that bullet.(130 Grain) That Pro-Hunter should perform great at that speed. And they are cheap.I picked up a 250 pack of Nosler 200 grain 44 bullets as well. I had a 130.00 credit there but Scott got that back today.

Its funny how 'ol Scott does that to a guy......Seems like everytime I walk into that shop, I walk out with a smile and a lighter back pocket.....Can't wait for your range report on that new piece. I've been tossing around the idea of gettin myself a 7mm WSM, and also tossing around the idea of building another AR15.....Decisions, Decisions....

Sounds good. My next Taurus will be the 357 Total Titanium 2 inch 7 shot revolver. I don't think a guy could find a better CC gun. Before Fall I may pick up a Raging Bull as well.

It was a lil over a year ago and I wanted to get a 41 Tracker real bad, then I had a guy break into my apartment in sioux falls, so thats when I decided to get the XD 40 Tactical instead, figured 12rds is better than 5

Was considering gettin a 41 or 44 Tracker, then decided to go with a 357 for the cheapness of ammo factor. Then if I like this gun, will get myself a Raging Bull this fall maybe.

I went an did some shooting with my XD tonite, hadn't really shot it much in a while. Can still put 12rds inside a baseball at 15 yards, and I dusted 3 cottontails with it.
