RE: Browning BPS ..opinions
I to agree that the BPS is THE best pump gun out there (with regards too toughness and overall quality). I have 870s, a 1300, an 835, my grandads old Stevens (on a mdl 12 patent) and NONE of them have the fit, finish and solid feel of my BPS. The model 12 wasa good gun for it's time, John Browning simply never built junk. BUT with a single slide arm it simply isn't as strong as practically ANY of todays pumps.
That being said, I just simply don't use my pumps much anymore (except the 835 and 870 for turkeys) as I prefer O/Us and autos!

IMO the old Model 12 can't hold a candle to the BPS.

John Browning was the man. However the model 12 is and always will be better than the BPS. It's ranked by almost every "periodical" (wow my vocab for this early ) as the best pump gun of all TIME. BPS wasnt even listed .......guess all those surveys and research were wrong.

Slugman, I have shot and handled both and both are very good shotguns. I don't see all the hype about the 12 to be quite honest. I like o/u's and semi's for bird hunting and would take pretty muchany of them over the BPS or 12

The model 12 I have is a pre-1964 model, that belonged to my grandfather. It stays in my safe other than the few times a yr I shoot clays or take it afield. I shoot my Berreta O/U and my Ithaca most of the time. Never had the urge to get a Semi , if I did , would be a browing.

I was also going to get the BPS, when I went shopping for a shotgun. I check into a little pawn shop and found me a better deal, an A-5 12ga. It's not new but man that thing is nice. I think BPS is the best pump out there today. The model 12 is a nice pump gun too, but I prefer the BPS over any pumps out there.
