I recall Baby Face Nelson took 17 rounds before he expired, and took 2 agents out with him. Amazing what a determined adversary can do. One night a soldier put a round in his head (temple) with his service 9mm outside our tent and night shift. Of course it begs the question why, but odd things happen in war. However, it did not kill him. He was evacuated, and the poor soul never even lost conciousness. So hardball ammo does have a shortcoming.

But I can't carry a howitzer on my belt, or always hope for a spine or center brain shot. I think the 1911 is the most reliable piece overall.

Well, I am not a woman, so I must be a pansy. I like my Glock 17 and 23, as well as my Sig P228, but I carry a S&W M38 Bodyguard in 38 spl., so that must make me a SUPER PANSY. Either way, I am secure in my manhood and don't care what anyone thinks about my handgun choices.

As for home defense, myBenelli Tactical with 00 buck trumps a 45 anyday.

Actually the 45 doesn't have that great of one shot stopping abitlity either. It really depends on the ammo you use. Quality 9 mm ammo verses 45 ball ammo I'll pick the 9 any day. If you were really worried about it you would use a .357, it has the best reccord for one shot stops.
the reason there is so much of difference is becuase you're comparing QUALITY 9 ammo and BALL .45 ammo. if you compared quality self defence ammo for both or ball ammo for both the .45 would win in either case except when it comes to magazine capacity.

Today I shot a .45 ACP with a magazine capacity of 14 rounds.
I do believe the mag capacity limit has been resended.

IMO, if you cant hit your target, it doesn't matter what you shoot, even if you are shooting a howitzer.

I personally have never shot one myself but I think it would be a blast just letting a few rapid rounds off. I think it would be funner just taking one out gopher hutning in a field where they are just all around your u could be liek james bond almost just rolling around and smacking off some gophers haha just jokes but it would be fun.

There isn't enough difference between the 9mm and the .45 for intelligent people to argue about. 75-100 ft-lbs of difference, yippeee, its like asking which is a better deer cartridge- a .22 magnum or a .22 hornet A handgun is only meant to fight your way to a long gun anyhow.
