Default Pentax Scopes?

Does anybody know anything about the Pentax Ballistic Plex scopes?I have had Pentax cameras ,They were pretty good .Was just wondering about the scopes.I was thinking about the 4.5X14 for a 25-06.I don't mind spending more for a good quality scope but if these are good why bother.I just got a Sako Finnbear and put a 3.5 X10X 50 Leupold on it but it has the heavy duplex and at 150 yards the crosshairs covered up a 3" bull.So I was pretty much guessing for a group. Also I am having trouble getting enough eye relief with the 50 mm objective..With the tapered dovetail I can't slide the mounts back.Looked at a 6 X 20 Ziess (869.00).Will mostly be used for paper little bit of hunting....Thanks Alton

The Pentax scopes are of good quality, just as are their cameras. However, IMO those "ballistic" reticles turn me off no matter who makes them. They just have too much crap in the field of view to confuse you at the moment of truth when you should be concentrating on holding & squeezing!!

Pentax scope = Burris. The above mentioned scope is a Burris FFII with pentax decals. Many find the FFII to be a goodscope in the class of the Bushnell Elite 3200 in terms of optical performance.

Alton, I think the Pentax scopes are ok I had a Lightseeker for a while but I prefer the Leupold vari-x or VX-3 scopes crystal clear and plenty of eye relief also the Leupold's hold thier value better than any other scope so the bottom line is put a Leupold on it and forget it. by the way a Leupold vari-x 3 6.5-20-40 came off of that very gun Chad

Yep they are Burris scopes. Made in same area. I spoke to Burris technician one time about if they make them and he was reluctant to tell me. The tone of his voice gave me the answer. He told me but didnt actually tell me.

Thanks for the replys guy's.I just was wondering about the Pentax .I really don't care about the Ballistic Plex,But if the scope was worth the price I could live with it.Probally will slide on down to the Gander Mt. in Greensboro N.C. and pick up a Vari X III Probally around 20X don't think they have much stronger except fixed power.

Does anybody know if the tube on older models Leupolds are shorter than the newer or is it just the model I have hadring spaceing problems with this 3.5 X 10 X 50 Vari X III on several different rifles.Seems that the tube is not quite long enough.Maybe I'm just an idiot.

Chad does your friend still have the Opti-Locks? I really like the rifle. The only problem I have is keeping everybody from grabbing it and running off......LOL They can't keep their hands off of it.Shoot me an E-Mail when you get a chance.

I believe Pentax makes the Burris Fullfield scope. I am not sure that Penatx makes the Signature Burris scopes. The signatures are of very high quality and I believe are made (or at least assembled) in the USA.
The lightseeker by Pentax a high quality scope with a good rep. But in it's price range of between 425 and 500 bucks, you can have your pick of fine scopes. Like the Leupold VX3, Zeiss Conquest, Sightron SIII, Nikon, Docter, etc. And for a little more, you are into IOR, Meopta, Kahles, and Nikon Gold.
Most people feel comfortable with a name they know, which is why Leupold and zeiss outsell all other premium scopes. And they bothe are a heck of alot of scopes for under 500 bucks!

Pentax Scopes are assembled by Burris, but the glass and all other componets are made by Pentax. Good luck.
