Weaver makes quality scopes...Grand Slam is the top of the line. Did you check out Leupold? I have both...my first pick would be a Leupold <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Brother Eyeballjr,
I have a Simmons scope on my 7mm Rem. Mag.
I was in the same shoes as you and I actually researched inexspensive scopes and found Simmons to be the best value.
Was it my scope of choice? NO! But, it was affordable for me.
Once I got it mounted, I was VERY suprise at the fact that it could take the shock from a 7mm and still stay true. I've put close to 100 rounds out of the 7 and STILL shoot 2-3 inch groups at 300 yards.
Plus, Simmons scopes have a lifetime warranty.
I've been very pleased.
Check out their web site before you decide.
Good luck.

simmions and weaver are the same company right. weaver is just the high end? if i turn the knob 4 clicks at 100 yards is it going to move an inch. how are the optics on these scopes are they clear or fussy?
pajack
i have checked out leupold there name speeks for itself. but i would like a 4x14 or 4x16 or some thing like that and dont have the $450 or $500 it takes to get one, or belive me i would have one. I have an old 3x9 and it is damn good. but don't have the funds at this moment.
what my plan is, is to get a middle of the line scope like a weaver or burris or nikon then later this summer get a nice leupold to replace it and stick the middle of the line scope on a differnt rifle

I own an OLD Sears 3x scope built by Weaver back in the whenevers. It's probably at least 25 years old and is still in great shape. I've used it on 22's and my Marlin 357 rifle and it even had to fill in on a shotgun last year. It's a great scope. Weaver makes some good stuff.

I put a Grand Slam 4.5X14x40 AO on my .243AI and have been very pleased. The Grand Slams are very well built and bright with precise adjustments. If you look a little on the net you can find them for about $300 plus or minus $20.00. There a better scopes out there but not for the money IMHO.

Leupold scopes have proven themselvs to me in many many cases. My father has used them for years, I have used them for years. And many of my neighbors and friends use them. IF you are looking to buy a Grand slam, You would be better off looking into the Ziess Conquest scope.
