Default QUESTION

I'm looking to get a new rifle and not spend too much. I found 3 similar ones I like, the Savage Model 16FHSS, Weatherby Vanguard Stainless, Remington Model 700 SPS Stainless. I hunt medium game and usually take shots at 200 yards plus. Any suggestions on rifle/caliber size?

Thanks,

-konical

Buy a savage in 30-06 or 7mm and take the money you saved and put it towards a good scope.

If it was me I would get the Remington SPS stainless any day over the others and if all you were going to hunt was medium game then a 7mm/08 or a 243win would suit you well within the 200yrd mark even out to 300 yards with ease. But at longer ranges then I would get a 7mm/08 or a 30/06.

pick any of the three rifles. Which ever one feels the best should be the one you choose. As for caliber you are going to het alot of opinons. I would pick the 270 30/06 or 7mm rem mag. put good glass ontop of your rifle and you should have a shooter. good luck

Ill sell you a silver 3x9x40 nikon buckmasters with leupold rings and bases flip up caps for 170.00 I have two of these laying around and they are too nice to collect dust

I would go with Rem I have never seen a bad one, and so many things you can upgrade with a remington, Take a look at the 260Rem its pretty good cartridge, but if your intending on bigger game you have to consider the wsm cartridge but its to much for what you mentioned you needed.

Get the Remington chambered for 7mm Rem Mag. Sweet setup that looks good, shoots super flat, hits hard, and is very versatile.

I would go shoulder all the guns. There are alot of Rem fans here so it may be a little bias to what you are told. I think the Rem by far is the ugliest with that goofy 2 color stock but thats my opinion.

The Savages are usually pretty accurate and the Weatherbys are guarantee 1.5" groups. Id go with the Weatherby over a Rem any day of the week. The only draw back with a Savage is if you ever sell it you wont get much $ of it.

I would go with a 270 or 270Wsm in the Weatherby. If you get one of the others I go with the same caliber or a 7mm-08. Any of those mid calibers will be fine though. From a 243 to a 300(whatever mag)
