I missed something,Speer makes a 70 gr. simi spitzer that works very well. Actualy it was a Tech. from Serria that put me on to that one, and more accurate than Nosler a plus since placement is important. By the way Sierra has a 65gr. game king though I haven't tried it on deer it's as accurate as a match bullet. These small caliber bullets will kill deer very dead, but they don't drop like a rock unless you hit them in the head or spine!

everybody in here is telling you to go with 60 gr or heavier which can be hard to find sometimes. you dont need to go that heavy if you dont want. i have killed two deer with my .223 with 45 gr winchester varmint loads. You just got to make good shot placement. I would go with the 55 gr ballistic tip because when they hit the lung of a deer they make a massive wound channel and kill well. i would limit range to around 200-225 yds. these little bullets will make a hole in a deer larger than a half dollar. youll see if you try it and kill with it.

Forgot to mention thecartridges were handloadspushing Hornady 52 gr. BTHP match bullets. I would have preferred to have had my 53 gr. Barnes TSX, but I was coyote hunting.

Used a .223 for 8 years and never lost a deer here in Missouri. I used Federals 69 gr Match Hollow Points. Most dropped within 50 yards none went passed 100 yards. All were shot broad side.
