I'll go along with that, I guess. There have been shotguns that will do somethings better, faster, look prettier, but the 870 'can' do it all at a reasonable price and reliably.

There are a lot of good shotguns out there, but "if" i had to buy just one and live with it for the rest of my life, it would be an 870 Wingmaster.

I have been shooting the Win, Mod 12 since 1953 and the FN BRN A-5 since 1967.

For all around use, sure the 870 is probably the best. For autos, I will take an auto 5 first.

Sure shot a few BPS. Shoots great, but there's a premium price to go alot with it. Anytime the job calls for a nasty day thru briars and swamp land, I always take my 870 express, not my gold or 1187 or auto5.

I agree, i dont think there is a better shotgun out there than the 870, if im correct i dont think it has even been modified since its introduction, that says a lot about something, that means they got it pefect the first time, i am also a pretty big fan of the mossberg 500, but would take an 870 over the 500 anytime

870s have changed minorly, forget exactly what...basically an extra "flap" or something to help with feeding issues (I know I know what feeding issues?)

I can't say I know new prices but used BPS's and 870's are compareable, worst case they are only about $50 apart

Wow! Nobodymentioned the Mod21 Winchester so I will. The Mod 21 is the best shotgun ever made. There, I said it and I'm sticking to it. Regards, Bluestar.
