I wouldn't look any further than savage. You are who and what they are made for. I don't believe you'll find a more accurate rifle at their price...or several hundred more. The rings and scopes on there "package" deals are another story, but the guns themselves are primo.

Savage will serve you well. I have a Browning A-Bolt lightweight composite stalker. Its very accurate and I would recommend it to anyone.

Savage or Tikka have the best bang for the buck. Accurate, smooth, adjustable triggers all for under $500. Hard to beat.

My brother-in-law has a Weather Warrior series model 16FCSS. He swears by it. In the past I have own the good ole model 110. I am now seriously looking at the model 14 or 114 in the .308.

You can't really go wrong with any of the Savage rifles. The accu-trigger is great. I have shot my brother-in-law's and I really like it a lot.

The 110 package is the best for your money. The rings and scope will last for a couple years, and if you want a varmint rifle you are gonna buy a better scope eventually. My Savage 110 is very accurate, and very affordable.

The stevens model 200 is a savage 110 without the accutrigger and you can get one for about 26 bucks. Accurate, tough and sevicable. Can't beat it
