I looking to buy a winchester 94 timber in 450 marlin for a brush gun. Just looking for info on the 450.

I posted this question last year when I was checking into them. The big comparison seems to be the 450 or the 45/70. The answers I got were, if you are shooting factory ammo, go with the 450. If you reload get the 45/70. Apparently you can hop up the 45/70 to outperform the 450. Im not an expert, cause I didnt even buy one, just trying to help.

IMO the 450 doesn't have too much of an edge over the old .45-70 for a person who handloads. Factory ammo is another story.
With handloads, both are pretty potent rounds for just about any NA big game and are pretty equal as long as you keep the ranges within reason.

Like everybody already said if you don't handload the factory shells are more powerful in the .450 unless you go to the specaility loads. I have a Marlin .450 myself and love it. We were planning on reloading for it but the factory shells shot so good out of it we never bothered to buy any dies for it. I wouldn't hesitate to shot anything with it out to about 200 yards. I know it does a realy good job on large boars.

Not to add to the confusion, but you may also want to consider the .444Marlin. I have one on a custom Mauser 98 action, really like the gun. I use Hornady Light mags in 265grain, shoot excellent. Just something to think about.

I like the ghost ring sight on that 94, and I approve of biscuit shooters. Although I keep a 45 70, you can get heavy loads for both at Buffalo Bore.

Doubt much will survive long with a hit from it.

Why do lever action have accuracy issues? Are there mods that have reasonable cost to get them to shoot better? Would hand loading solve the problem?

I got rid of a 30-30 that would satisify any hunter in terms of accuracy but not me as a hunter/shooter. I just want to know if I should avoid levers all together if this is my stance.
