RE: Rem 700 ADL 6mm
Thanks for all the input guys. Remember, it's for my 11 year old, so recoil is a huge factor. I've never fired the 7mm-08. Is it significantly more than a .243? I only mention the .243 because I've fired a lot of them, so I can use it as a reference.
Hey Reb, great website. One question, if they don't have an FFL, can they ship to an FFL in Ca.? Most didn't have phone numbers or I would've called myself. Anyway, now I've got to think about this some more. I'll probably wait a week or two and if the 6mm is still there, I'll make him a low ball offer and see what happens.

For youngster I'd look into the Harrington and Richardon Single shot Ultra in .243
really really nice gun with laminated stock and checkering for 229 bucks. put a descent scope and the kid would be ready to go.

I bought an NEF 7MM-08 youth Model because it fits my bad shoulder better than the long stock. However you could start with the youth model then buy just the adult size butt stock from NEF. They are cheap. www.hr1871.com. check out their barrel program and all the options.

Grab it; you'll be glad you did. Excellent accuracy and a fine firearm for both a youth shooter and adult. Remington 6mm's are rare without the heavy barrels. The ADL's and for one year the Classic version was offered in 6mm in the 80's and few are willing to part with the ones the own.

I'm gonna try to wheel and deal with this guy. I've done some research on it and I think it would be a good choice. Thanks to James and Reb for the websites. I'm not to fond of the single shooters, though. Reb, I think you created a monster. That website could be dangerous to my pocket book. Thanks to all for your responses. UThunter, I'll be checking out Kerley's, I remember the name now that you mention it.
