The ring I bought for my first wife would have paid for several of my "toys".

Bigcountry - I would seriously recommend test driving one of these first. I thought I wanted one awhile back. It grew into an obsession. Ten shots at the range and I was cured. This is about the most unpleasant and obnoxious firearm on earth to discharge. You almost need to be a masochist to enjoy it. You don't know it yet - but you don't need it.

while I agree with this I think it's not a gun to shoot a lot. It's a one shot spectacular. You work up a load and get it tuned and properly sighted. You shoot it at ranges to 1000 yards and beyond, use a laser range finder and determine the tradjectory and fire one shot.

I don't see this as a rifleman's gun...I see this as a scientist's gun. One that wants to apply the science of shooting to it's ultimate and take the couple shots a day at the most extreme ranges.

It's not for me but there's a lot of folks out there having a ball with it. It's not for everyone but for those that can handle it it's the ultimate.

If that one gets by you, you can always get one of these: http://www.barrettrifles.com/rifles/rifles_99.htm
