I've been shooting 130 gr ballistic tips in my Ruger 270wsm, I think I'm going to settle on the 140 gr accubonds for everything sitting atop 59.5 gr of I 4350. This load has been producing on average 3/4 " groups off the bench at 100 yds, that is if I'm doing my part. You have to buy several different ones and see which the gun likes best.

For deer Nosler Ballistic tips work great for standing, broadside shots. Partitions are great for just about everything.

I'm loading Partitions for my wife's 270 for deer, elk, and bear. Might swap her to Accubonds next year (less expensive than Part's.)

I tried the 140 Accubonds last January and was pretty favorably impressed. I shot a medium cow elk at 275 yards broadside in the ribs - the bullet went through both lungs and exited. The "wound channel" was similar to that of a partition - kind of turnip shaped. Elk was down and out in under two seconds.

Good to hear they perform well. I've not had the chance to test effects on a critter yet but fingers crossed for this year.

I shot a nice buck last year with the Win 130 Ballistic Tip. I'm shooting a Browning A Bolt and not a Tikka, but at close range that bullet disintegrates. Apparently the high velocity of the 270WSM just causes that bullet to shatter on impact if it hits bone at a close range. There was no exit wound. We look for that deer for two hours with no sign of blood. Even though he was only 50 yards out, my buddy convinced me that I hadmissed the deer. The deer was found a little over a month later by rabbit hunters andtheir dogs.

This year I'm going to try Federal 140 Accubonds only because I couldn't get my hands on the new Federal 130 Nosler Partitions.
The 140s group just as well as the Ballistic Tips in my rifle, but I cannot give you any advice on what they do to a deer. Stay tuned though, rifle season opens here in a little over a week.
