7 feet high is kinda low, that would place you just 3 feet above a deer's eye level. Being up in a tree about 20 feet or so feels about right. Even at that height I had a deer bust me last year as I grabbed for the rifle.....it's good to have faster reflexes than a deer ;-)

I would say atleast 10' as a min. In my climbers I'll go 20'-25'.A few of my ladder stands are 15'and work well. 7'is just to low. Get a pair of Sky Hooks and you can go as high as you want. Ruger Redhawk
