If you had it in your power to bring back one of the old (or not so old) calibers which is now out of favor with the buying public, which would you choose and which gun would you couple it with?
I think I'd choose the 348 Winchester and put it in a Savage 99 with a light maple stock..... top it off with a Weaver 4x. That would make for a nice "eastern" deer rifle out to about 200 yards.

Now, why not make your Model 99 a .358 instead? This is a much better cartridge than the .348, being able to launch a pointed 250-grain bullet at over 2400 FPS..... Better yet, buy a BLR in .358! The BLR will stand loads up to the level of a bolt-action, and is extremely accurate to boot. In other words, what you want is stillavailable today from Browning!

I wish savage would bring back the lever action 99 in 308, 243 or 7mm-08. If they are to expensive to make in there original configuration why not drop the rotary mag and make a detachable mag
I would buy one
