Hello Chad.....Welcome to the Sako world. With some reloads, youare holdinga one hole gun. Did you find the garcia import etching under the barrel? It was probably made shortly after the Garcia conversion in the early 70's...my guess is 1974 or so. My son has a '06 in that serial number range....shoots 1/2 MOA all day long with hot hunting loads. I have an '06 that is a pre-Garcia that shoots the same. The older ones were stamped "Bofors" on the barrel...up to 1968. It was a marketing thing.....the same steel was used in your L61R. Since Beretta owns them now they just don't have the quality of the old ones. You are luck you found your rifle....post some pics if you get a chance. regards, Rick.

Rick [48thguns] I recieved some info. from Sako today my rifle was made in 1984-1985 it is a Stoeger import which I understand these rifles are still in demand? My gunsmith says all of the pre-model 75 guns are better than the model 75 I really dont know but this rifle will never be for sale I am looking for more of these rifles. Also I am working on some loads for it using the Sierra GameKing bullets. The only problem I have with thes gun is it is almost too nice to hunt with I am terrified I will scratch it most of my"hunting " rifles are stainless/synthetic again thanks for all of the help chad
