yes it is , 25-06 is one of the most accurate cartridges out there i have a buddy that shoots his at 350 yds without adjusting windage or elevation and holds great groups. he uses 120 grn handloaded boattails. he hunts in kansas so he makes typically long shots.this last year he took a 12 point with his 25-06 and dropped it easily. but my answer to your question is yes it is and its a hell of a cartridge.

Yes, the 25-06 may be THE deer caliber, but for a pistol (short barrel)I dont think that you'll get the full potential out of it. You would be just as well off (performance wise)with a 257roberts, or 250 savage.Not that the 25-06 would be a bad choice. Just keep in mind that you wont get the WHOLE NINE YARDS with a pistol.
