Default T/C Contender?

How do I tell what contender I have? I think it is the older one. The number on the frame is 86193. Also will the G2 barrels fit this frame? Or the newer barrels?

I think the old barrels will fit the G2 but I don't think the G2 barrels will fit the original contenders. What engraving does your contender have? Is it a deep wide engraving or a shallow light engraving? My father has an older one with the deeper engraving and mine is newer with shallow engraving. The G2 looks like a smaller encore with no engraving. If you have a picture it would help.

I can't figure out how to get a picture on here but it looks like it is the fine engraving of the cougar? It does not cover the whole receiver only part of it.

It sounds like it is the same one I have, the one just before they went to the G2.

The late model contenders have the firing pin selector externally on the hammer, the early models dont.

This might help, doubleA

I'd contact T/C to make sure, but I think ANY contender barrel will mate up to a Contender frame, including the G2. But, if its a very early frame, it'll snap right on, but will NOT break down.(coming from a personal experience) I bought a very early frame with two octogan barrels and took it home and put on a newer barrel. Everything hooked up, but when I tried to break it down, it was locked up, wouldn't budge!! I litterally had to take it down to almost nothing before getting it to open. Sounds like you have a newer frame, so that won't matter, but just an FYI for anyone with a very old frame. Live and learn.
