<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
Were you wearing a hunting coat or just a tshirt? It can make a difference. Likely you just weren't holding it snugly and it bit back then just got worse with every shot.

It was 79 degrees, I had a t-shirt on. Thats got to be what it was. I had a bad hold and never adjusted the hold after 1st shot. Like I said I shot that rifle hundreds of times before.

Don't feel bad, a .270 BAR kicked me so hard that I'll never own a .270. That was about 15 years ago and I still cringe at the thought of ever shooting that rifle again. I use a .375 H&H for a lot of my hunting and it doesn't bother me at all, but that BAR kicked the snot out of me. It just goes to show what a bad stock design will do.

Oh the arm is working OK, I'm going to go to the range today, but I think I'll shoot the rimfires today

My Thompson Renegade 54cal ML with 120grs of FFg a 430gr bullet, and a steel buttplate doesn't bruise me that bad after ten shots. Has your overall health changed lately? Some medical conditions cause people to bruise easily. Might be too much stress dealing with certain people on the pol. board.

Ouch! I can shoot my 270 the better part of the day and never have the slightest discomfort.I can't understand why your's is beating you that badly. My Ruger M-77 7mm Rem Mag has been beating me but only leaves a slight bruise.I would give my shoulder a break for sure.Try pulling in tighter against your shoulder when firing. Ruger Redhawk, This is the first time I've ever bruised from any rifle, I have been bit a few times but never a bruise. Maybe Rem222 is on to something, maybe he's giving me too much stress with his liberal ideas
