I just cannot find the correct combination of features that will do the trick. Anyone feel the same?
You are absolutely right! If its not a 4000fps superultramegamagnum then there is no interest in them anymore. We grew up shooting deer with 3030s and moose with .303 british. The wealthier ones had a .3006 ! Now people hunt whitetail deer with .300 mags and still take them under 100 yds like most of us always have but aare brainwashed into thinking its necessary. Anyway, gun companies are run by shareholders and accountants, not enthusiasts so it will only get worse and the "custom Rifle" will get more and more popular I think. My last purchase was a Sako and while it was alot more money than a rem or win, you couldn't give me one of those these days. I don't think we will ever see the return of great rounds like the whelen, .358 win and .257 rob in any more than very limited runs and models. Wouldn't you like to see Ruger bring out the RSI mannlicher style in .358 win or Browning chamber the BAR in .35 whelen? Not likely, but you can have them made for you if you want one. I think Ruger have a bit of a nostalgic bend to them maybe they will step up to the plate for the gun enthusiasts.
