During cold weather typically bass will hold tight to structure. I usually slow and downsize my presentation. Slow it down. When you think you're going slow enough to the point time is going to stop, go slower. I use small spinnerbaits or plastic worms/grubs. You can also try rat l traps to get a reaction strike. I would recomend fishing the bottom or structure such as limbs, rock beds, docks, etc.....

I have had had the most sucess on burning a rattle trap or crank.
If you think about it, the fish is most likley not activley feeding so if there just sitting there and a trap or crank comes swimming by there face they have a split second to decide what to do. Either there gonna take a swipe at it or let it swim by and alot of the time they will take a swipe at it.
I think that the trap lets you cover more water quickly and you have a better chance of getting a reaction strike then trying to finess them into biting.
Just my 2cents

You might want to try using a slow suspending jerk bait. A very slow retrieve is key. You should actually be waiting more than retreiving.
Jerk
rest for a bit
Jerk

repeat..
NYBH definatly has the key. Small and Slow. Somebody mentioned small spinnerbaits that work great w/ a colorado blade. Ideal for slow-rolling.
Try deaper structure such as channels, sunkin islands and Deap points, rock structures, and stumps. You'll find they are hanging pretty deep this time of year and are real sluggish.

I do slow but I do not down size my bait. I use big jigs and big spinner baits along with worms and lozards. The other day when I wole up it was 28 and when we started fishing it was 33 and we caught fish from around 9 to 2. We had a blast, my buddy who is an awsome Cobia fisherman caught a 8 1/2 lb bass on a jig and it made his day. I would have let him mount it but he said he would put it back to catch another day.
