Matt, have you ever fly fished Little Mahonning creek's fly project. If you haven't, it is well worth taking a trip to. I live about 20 minutes from there and man, I love it. It is full of trout. It is CLEAN, no line laying around. It has some big trout in it too. My friend caught an 18 inch Brown out of there. My best out of there was a 17 inch Rainbow. You can catch plenty of fish there.

Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

Jason,
I had a girlfriend who went to I.U.P. and I believe I actually looked at that stream.....I was visiting once and I remember a trout stream somewhere just out of town where we stopped on a bridge to look at the water.....I was pretty shocked to see a nice pod of trout feeding below the bridge and few trout cruising above.....and nobody fishing!! AND I DIDN'T HAVE MY GEAR!! <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

It was a nice stream if that's the one.....I'm not too familiar with the area out your way, and I haven't found an excuse to make it back.

If I'm ever planning on being in the area, I'll be sure to have my stuff along next time.....Thanks for the tip.

Well Matt, we have a lot of great trout spots around here. Their is one in Homer City, which is about 10 minutes from my house that is catch and release only. It has some huge trout in it. We have a bunch more. I don't think that you saw Little Mahoninng, it is probablly 30 minutes from I.U.P. You would probablly love it there. It is in the bottom of a deer valley. The creek is surrounded by pines. It has some really nice runs. There is one deep hole, it has a small dam at the bottom end. It is probablly a good 15 yards lond and 15 yards wide. It get to about 6 feet deep. I have seen Palamino's in there that would probablly have been close to 25 inches long, but they wouldn't hit anything that I tried. I was trying all types of streamers, nympths, dry flies, and terrestrials. I even put a wooly bugger on and he wouldn't hit that. It is beautiful up there though. Nobody litters and the stream is just amazing. I would suggest that you take a trip out there someday. It is well worth it.

Jason,
I just remembered the name of that creek in Indiana that I checked out......Lick Creek (or maybe a branch of Lick Creek) From what I could tell it was loaded with trout and nobody fishing.
Ever fish it??

Two Lick Creek. I fish it all the time. It is loaded with trout, still not nearly as good as Little Mahonning. I REALLY love fishing Two Lick Lake. It is stocked every year with Florida Largemouth. I have caught a 21&quot; largemouth and a smallmouth pushing 22&quot; out of there. It also has LOTS of pickeral and pike. At night, it has some of the best catfish fishing around. It is also one of the few lakes that is stocked with Striped Bass. O yeah, the lake also has Brown Trout in it. O yeah, did I forget to mention that every year, a couple 5-9 pounders are pulled out of it.

Yep, I am up there pretty much everyday they stock. Man, they put more fish in that stream in one day, than they do in all the other streams around here in a whole season. Wimp, have you ever been to the old brdge that fell down? It just looks like a wall with the stream underneath it. That place usually has about a dozen trout in it. Then, there is the deep hole which is down the stream from the bridge on 119. It is the one with the trailer beside it. MAN, that whole has just about everything in it. Pike, Bass, Catfish, Perch, Trout, Bluegill, Suckers, Crappie, and I even caught a small walleye out of there. The bridge down from there is another great spot. I saw probablly the biggest trout of all time under it. I swear, it had to have been atleat 12 pound brown. He wouldn't hit anything, I tried flies, minnows, nightcralwers, spinners, yo zuri minnows, powerbait... then, I finally figured out what to try. I went to a pet store and got a mouse. I cast it out there and man, he nailed it, snapped my 4 pound test, but for the 10 seconds I had him on, it was the biggest rush of my life. That stream is one of the best streams around to fish. I heard that they Game Commission might be shocking it again next year because they think that there is another muskie problem in it.

BM there was actually 2 huge browns under that bridge for a little while. The one was hands down the biggest one I've ever seen, no doubt the one you missed. They put a bunch of big browns in that season. I was between jobs at the time and spent so many hours and several all nighters under that bridge. It is crazy that you mentioned using a mouse. My Dad was SOO close to buying a mouse and using it for bait. I kinda laughed at him and said that if he caught the big one on a mouse I would pay to have it mounted. He's going to flip when I relay your story.
I'll be up there stocking again this year. Probably be wearing a black cowboy hat.
