Ya what do you use for fly fishing? I usually fly fish the streams/rivers , and i will spin the lakes.

When i fly fish i usually use an elk hair caddis, or mayflies, or whatever it looks like there naturally biting on.

alright...heres my setups at the moment.

1) - 5'6" Fenwick Venture Ultralight rod
- Abu Garcia Cardinal 101 6 bb ultralight reel
- 4 lbs stren orginal line

2) - Bass Pro Shops Micro Light 6'6" ultralight rod. I took off all of the guides but the first 2 and added my own large diameter guides.
- Shimano Sedona 1000 reel
- 6 lbs stren orginal

with these I usually use a #14 treble hook, and 1 split shot about 14" above the hook, and a 1/4" wide chunk of powerbait.

3) - Berkeley lightning rod. 5' super ultralight.
- Mitchel ultralight reel
- 4 lb stren

This is my lure fishing setup

4) -7'6" 3 weight Redington custom fly rod
-Pflueger supreme gold reel
-Cortland 444 dt-3-f flyline
This is, obviously, my flyfishing setup.

My main Fly Rod is a Composite Development GHR 3 piece in 6 weight. A great all round rod for conditions here.
Reel an Ambassador.
Line: 7 weight forward floating line.
Tapered leader (6-8 feet long)
Flourocarbon tippet (4 pound.) 3-4 feet long
Then usually use two flys. A dry as indicator: Humpy, Elk hair, Royal wolf
2 foot dropper with a nymph on: Hare & Copper or a purple nymph
For the floater I use a largeish fly (10 or 12) for the nymph I go small (14-16)
Often in small streams or windy conditions, I use only a single nymph. Sometimes 2 nymphs and a foam indicator.
This rig has worked well for me.
I fish mainly small streams, but also big water and lakes.

I am a young fly fisherman, so can you explain what you mean by using two flies, and a dry as an indicator? do you tie a dry and then a wet so that when the wet is hit you see the dry go under and know you have a strike?

for wet you use foam also? is that the same as above, but just foam?

lol sorry for all the questions, i am just trying to learn.

You are right.
Normally when nymph (Or wet fly)fishing I use an indicator, this can either be wool or foam. Some people use a floating putty.
I've found that sometimes trout will strike at your indicator, so why not use a dry fly instead.
This has worked well for me i.e. A big visable dry fly with some flourocarbon tied to the hook shank then a nymph (Wet) trailing 2 feet or more (In deeper water)
In some places fishing laws limit the amount of hooks you can have on your line.
So pays to check that your set-up is legal. Two maximum is O.K. round here.
