These were all bluegills..I boated about 150 keepers this year..School starts back tomorrow for teachers..last year's crappie season wasn't all that good for me..One reason is because the peak of our crappie seaon is during out deer season which goes from early Nov. through the first week of Jan...Then, after Jan I focus on monster spawning bass..Decisions .decisions[8D]

What happens with the bones on the whole bluegills? Sorry if its a naive question, I've never had a whole fish like that. Do you eat around the bones?

These fish are fried well done..You take a fork and the meat flakes off perfectly leaving the entire set of bones in place..Now..grasp the bone and pull the entire set of bones out in one piece.throw away...and eat the other side..Good stuff man..

I fillet them all. The only fish I deep fry wholeare small smelt. Take them right out of the lake (ice fishing) and throw them whole guts and all into the frying pan right there on the ice. They swim a bit in the hot grease.
