RE: Pennsylvania Trout Season
I am not from PA but it open here today for open water fishing, the problem is not much water is free from ice right now. I might try Grandlake Stream
for a landlocked salmon though on Thursday.. Flyfishing only there, but right now they have the gates wide open and you couldn't get near the stream right now..

In Virginia you canfish for trout year round. This coming weekend is Heritage Day. This day was established to replace opening day for trout. A number of streams are scheduled for a stocking on April the 5th.Trout Unlimited and Graves Mountain Lodge are hosting a kids day for trout fishing on April the 5th. A portion of the Rose River will be stocked with trout , strictly for the kids. The Robinson River will be stocked for Heritage Day. Both of these rivers can be accessed from Syria VA.

Yea, Im just counting down the days for the PA season to open. 9 DAYS.
I'm heading up to Kettle Creek for the first day. I hear there is a good number of fishermen that go up there the first day, but what the heck ill give er a try.
I also hear it is very nice up in potter county.
Hopefully this year will be as good as last year on the first day.

That is a BEAUTIFUL brown trout... That looks like a fish that was either stream bred, or had at least been in the creek for a year or two..
I never saw anything as purty as that fish come out of Kettle, although I've seen plenty of stocked rainbows and paliminos from 2 - 5 pounds taken there..
What I have caught from Kettle are mostly stocked rainbows from 10 to 14 inches, but plenty of them...

I'm hoping that we don't get too much rain... Levels on Kettle Creek are good now, but a bunch of rain would blow things out.....
I fish flies, and high, discolored water is not condusive to good fly fishing..
