RE: Hey .let's have a baitcasting review.
Abu Garcia 6500, Solaris graphite rod 9' MH, 14 pound mono. 167'6"
It took me about a dozen tries because I was getting backlashed while trying to get a long cast, and my rod is made for 1 to 4 oz. weight instead of 1/4 oz. that I was using.

Thanks for the info.
Sorry about those backlashes..I hope you didn't lose any line.
I just went out and bought a 2nd Team Diawa 7 footer. No doubt.the longe the rod the longer the cast...I may be up to 100 feet now myself.

The longer rod does help on distance, as it gets your weight traveling faster. There are also techniques that are unique for long distance casting.
The action of the rod must also be sized properly for the weight.
Lets see...The line must match the reel and the rod, the weight must match the rod, and the smaller line will cast farther. In other words if your reel says 8 - 14 pound line, the 8 will cast further than the 14.
You rod handle needs to be designed for distance casting also. The butt end of my rod is around 2 feet long below the reel and gives more leverage to get the rod tip moving faster.
