If it was gonna be a state record why did you eat it? just curious.
Good question. I had no idea the fish was a state record. I posted the picture on here.
Then, another Florida fishermen told me I had filleted a state record. I checked the Florida records and found out he was correct.

Chuck on a rare bad day in life ( we all have them )go home and take that big girl out of the freezer and cook her up real good. I never ate Talapia but I hear they are real tastey. Having a State record will certainly make it taste all the better.

LOL
I've caught a lot of them. Someone brought them in and put them in our lakes. They mostly feed like carp.. they travel in schools .I've caught 70 pounds of them once with a cast net with one cast. They are very mild ..taste a little like flounder with a little firmer flesh.Once I accidently caught them once on a Panther Martin.During the right time of the year you can catch a 1/2 dozen trolling with Panthers or Rooster Tails...but Panther Martin being tops by a long shot. They fight very hard.. similiar to bass but with no jumping. What ticks me off is my local tackle shop said they are a certified weigh in.[:@]Darn..I'll know the next time. They wished I had checked in too...for their business.
