Whats ur bigest smallie?

RE: Whats ur bigest smallie?
I get lots of 4+ pounders but never a 5 pound fish. My largest run about 20" and I usually catch several over 16" daily. A fat 18" is around 3 pounds and they are 4 pounds when they get over 19". The other day I was throwing a 3" white twister tail on a chartreuce 1/8 oz jig and landed 4 out of 6 just fishing off my dock. Two of them were pre spawn 4 pound females.

I really don't have a weight for my biggest smallmouth. I recently found a creek near my home that's what the Missouri Department of Conservation has tagged a "Trophy smallmouth management area." MDC rules state a smallie has to be a minimum of 15" and the creel limit is 1. So smallmouth are everywhere. I caught one 2 years ago that was 18" long and fat. I'm guessing it was about 3 pounds. My brother in law caught a 19.5" smallie the same day. We guessed it around 4# or so. Both were caught on Rebel wee crawls, ultralight rods with 6# test. Heck of a fight!

I really do not wiegh them but once in a while I will measure the big
ones and my biggest one was a 24 incher I guessed it to be around
4 1/2 -- 5 pounds somewhere. I caught on the St. Croix River and
its quite common to catch some big ones there. A friend from Mass.
came up last year and caught one about 3 pounds and was jumping
around like a young fellow and told me it was the biggest fish he
has ever caught. It brought a big smile from me seeing this. The biggest
one I caught was with a rubber crayfish and some mud I would throw
into the water. After throwing the mud I would bounce the crayfish
off the bottom. It works for me.
