I just bought a Tikka T3 Lite in .300WSM. It has a 24 3/8" barrel and weights only 6lbs 6oz empty. I don't have a scale that will weight it, but with a 3-9x scope and a full load it can't weight any more than 7.25lbs.

Okay guys now we're getting somewhere. It is a struggle to find a good ultra light that won't underpower a good scope. I was fortunate enough to aquire a Swarovski 30mm 3-12 scope for short money and I'm trying to match it up with a gun worthy of the optics. I want something that also has a muzzle brake option and a coated stainless barrel to keep away from glare. I looked at some of your suggestions and agree with you on the functionality but I would need gunsmithing anyway to get them to the level I want.
The only gun that comes close is the Remington Lss 700 Alaskan and I still need to add the muzzle brake and it ends up being 2k anyway. The other option I am looking at is an H-S Precision Pro hunter lightweight. If you know of any other configuration I will gladly listen. It might be the bow-hunter in me that makes me so anal but aren't we all passionate about our sport.

I am friends with Mark Bansners son Garrett. I went shooting with him one time. We useed his sheep hunter model in 270 wsm. Great rifle. Very light was epuipped with a muzzle brake and everything.
