RE: 16 gauge vs. 12 gauge
I'm gonna have to go with the 16 on this one. I use a Remington 870 wingmaster that my dad used when he was in his early years. That gun has taken down doves, ducks, geese and turkeys. Its a versitile gun. Plus, you have the added bonus of it being fun to shoot. I find 16 gauge to be a little more "sporty" than the 12. The 870 is well built and should take whatever punishment it might recieve in the field. I find the 16 shells to be ample for all purposes I've used. Ok, its harder to find ammo. I'll be the first to attest that. But you can get the ammo without too much effort. I think it's worth it.

I got a box of 5 2.75 sluts for $1.89 last week too.

While a 16 wingmaster is sweet, it ain't no SWEET SIXTEEN. Have to get a Browning Belgium for that. Someone commented about the wingmaster being a sweet 16 so I had to say it. I shoot a SWEET SIXTEEN and love it. Noble makes a shell in 4's and 6's for $8.00 a box that works great. Are you certain about a pump gun for Upland. That is the way I started but not what I pick up to go afield these days. The 16 may swing a little faster than the 12. That would be my reason for choosing one.

A couple of years back I found myself without a shotgun at the start of dove season. Well i borrowed the father-in-laws 16 guage pump, dont remeber what it was, it was pretty old though, but let me tell you what, I never in my life shot that good as I did that season. I dont know why but I was taking dove out to 60yds with that 16 using 7 1/2 shot. I was impressed to say the least.
