Default Federal 170gr. Nosler Partiton?

I currently shoot Federals Nosler Partition out of my Rem280 and love it! Have yet for a deer to run more than 15 yards from where he was shot. Has anyone tried the Federal Premium 170gr Nosler Partition in the 30-30cal? I just stole a used Marlin 336C and was wondering about this load. Growing up using my Dads 30-30 Winchester he always had me loading it with 150gr or 170gr core-lokt. The 30-30 I just got came with two boxes of Winchester 170gr Silvertip, one box of 150gr Silvertip and two boxes of Core-lokt 170gr Soft Pt.

I'm sure down the road I'll roll my own but for now I was wondering how the Fed Noslers performed! Oh, when I mention stole it I wasn't speaking literally! I paid $325 for the gun, case, Simmons ProHunter 3X9X40, sling, 5 full boxes of ammo, hammer extension and a belt shell holder with 10 rounds of ammo! The gun is mint and everything with it all looks brand new! Check out the barrel as well and it looks as if it was never fired.

First thing I did was lost the scope and ordered a Williams peep sight! Can't wait to put it on and hit the range then the deer woods.

At the speeds a 30/30 is going at no need for a Nosler bullet.. conventional jacket 150 grain roundnose or 170 grain flatpoint is all you need.

I gotta agree 100% for deer. Now if you got the bug to use it on Black bears then go to the nosler bullet loading by all means.

I am in bear country and do see at least one while out deer hunting. I'll more likely stick with the 170gr loads. If the 30-30 with 170gr core-lokts won't stop a bear I'll just have to go for my Casull Thanks for the help
