Winchester Super Shadow Model 70
Does anyone out there have one of thes rifles? I have been looking at one in 300 WSM. I would like to know how you rate the rifle and any problems you have encountered with the synthetic stock. It does appear to be injection molded. Is this stock too flexible? The rifle I am looking at is new and will have the controlled round push feed bolt system. I have heard some previous Winchester's with controlled round feed had feeding problems. Did going to CRPF fix these feeding problems? The rifle feels good in my hands. Also, does the recoil pad work as claimed or is recoil stiff with the light weight of the gun? Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Super,
A friend of mine has that same gun and he claims he loves it, never had a problem one with the gun. Well, he had one minor problem , but it was the scope . one of those cheap scopes they put on the package guns, but he fixed that with a new nikon. He said for hunting it is an excellent choice.I myself own a savage 300wsm. the only reason was because i didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a left handed winchester. He said the recoil pad is one of the better ones he's used, but he said the recoilisn't as bad as you think.. i hope this info helps you out in your decision making!!

I have that gun in the 30.06. So far i like it quite a bit. Mine is/was kind of fussy on the ammo i use, it seems to prefer Winchester ammo (go figure). But i never had a mis feed or any other problem. The stock seems pretty stiff, i believe they fill it with foam. All in all, it's a nice rifle. Mine was one of those package deals and has the cheap scope. Put a good scope on the gun and i think this will be one hell of a package for what i paid. I also love the looks of it.

I have the SS Win Mod 70 in .300 WSM that you are talking about and I absolutely love it. I have never had any feeding problems even with my reloads. The stock is plenty stiff and recoil pad does soak up much of the recoil. It kicks about like a typical .30-06 for felt recoil. Sub MOA groups (3 shot) are not uncommon with my rifle provided I do my part @ 100 yds. On a scale of 1 to 10 Id give it a 9.

I have the rifle you mentioned in 7WSM..the stock is very stiff and not at all like the regular tupperware stocks out there. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of floorplate and bottom metal. I bought a featherweight stock and bottom metal for it and it is very nice now. The CRPF is an improvement in feeding over regular CRF and the gun feeds a little better with this setup then my CRF M70 WSM.. I think some people are getting this rifle mixed up with the black shadow model that Winchester made for std and mag calibers..My local Walmart brought me the wrong gun out of the stock room. The Simmons 3-9x40 scope was really not that bad just took it off and put it on my 22 rifle.

Thanks for the info. I am also looking at a Savage. I'm leaning towards the Winchester at this point. I had to spend a little of my tax return on something. Might as well be a new rifle and scope.

I hope they are a good rifle. I have one on layaway in 270 WSM. I have only had one Winchester Bolt action rifle in all the guns I have owned. There is no real reason for this as I certainly don't have anything against Winchesters. I was always just into Savage and Remington more with Remington being my firat choice as a rule. I have had quite a few Winchester Lever guns.
