I have a mdl 60 and it is very accurate with just about any ammo that I have run through it. My only real dislikes are that it has a plastic trigger and trigger guard, a very cheap move on Marlins part. I have never shot a Mossberg 22 though, so I have no opinion on that brand.

i own the 702 and loveit. very accurate. mine loves winchester 333's the best for accuracy. the only time i had probs was with rem thunderbolts alot of jams and missfires. coulda been a bad batch tho. other then that it shoots onlything.

Is the 702 a "well build rifle",and if it is accurate enough to hit a squirrel in the head, then i want it.Wal mart has one for about $130.

my 702 is put together tight, smooth stock, no big gaps anyware. just "feels" right to me.
as far as accurcy i would say depends on the shooter, scope, ammo, etc...
mine shoots winchester 333's the best, mine can put nickel size holes (5 shots) in a target at 35-40yards DEPENDING on the ammo.
i did kill a bird at 30 yards once, shooting a squirrel in the head is possible with a scope. the rear open sight is easy to bump off so i wouldnd relay on it unless i had to.

btw is the one at walmart all black?? thats the only ones my local walmart sold.
i bought mine at gander mountain new and its the black stock/brush crome barrel for 140.00. at the same time they had a all black one with a scope combo for the same price, if u trust the factory scopes.

Never shot or even worked with a Marlin. The Model 60 has been around for nearly 50 years and it still works quite well. Simple design and all of the ones I have shot were very accurate.
I have a few 10/22 as well and have worked with both quite a bit.
Actually a Model 60 has twin extractors, Ruger has one. The Model 60 has a center mounted bolt return spring, the Ruger is mounted on the left side (can and does bind the bolt). The Model 60 comes with a non metalic buffer, the Ruger requires you buy an aftermarket to get that. A Model 60 can be got for about $120, any new Ruger cost nearly twice that (new ones have that nifty plastic trigger group).
