Remington 750 Woodsmaster

RE: Remington 750 Woodsmaster
I dont have a 750 but read a few articles on them in Shooting times. The only thing that stood out to me was that the gun had a 10lbs trigger pull. To me that is horrible, I have a 7600 and a 760 and both have hard triggers and I cant find a gunsmith that can do anything to them to help.
The rest of the article had nothing but good things to say about the rifle though, just make sure you use the cleaning brush provided with it so it does jam. Of course Ive never seen a bad article about a gun from Shooting Times so its hard to say for sure what to think. I'll send you the article if you are interested.

there was a guy on here about 3 weeks ago that said he got one and his jammed the first 2-3 shots he fired. I cant remember who it was, but it wasnt a positive post. I treat new gun designs the same way as cars, let em get the bugs out the first year or two before you buy one.

I've got the 35 Whelen carbine and the trigger doesn't seem too heavy to me (but I'm used to a 742). I had it jam once, but I'm pretty sure that was because I had the cartridge too far forward in the magazine, though.
Love the grip, love the finish love the look and I *really* love the recoil pad!

Mr Longbeard, I am late in telling you to hold off on the rifle until you've had a chance to feel and shoulder a Browning BLR 81. This is a superb brush gun. I have one in .358 Win.
They come in many calibers and .30-06 is one of them. The gun comes up quickly and the lever is smooth and quick. It has a rotating locking bolt that secures the shell andchamber very well. Accurate as one could ask for.
I'd put my BLR up against any Rem 750 and bet I can shoot as fast withno jams!!! Accuracy and speed rarely go in the same sentence, so speed shooting into a paperplate at 50 yds is fair enough.I'll wager that the 06 is a smokin' round in the BLR.
Just my opinion though.

I have one in the 35 whelen. Got to give Remington credit for assembling a pretty soft shooting package. I have the 22" barrel, I'm curious about the short barrel version, but have never seen one. I have put quite a few different loads & bullet weights through it with no feeding problems appearing. My rifle doesn't seem to like the 200 grain bullets, but does well with 225 & 250 gr bullets. My biggest complaint is the R etched into the forearm.
