Help decide on rifle purchase

RE: Help decide on rifle purchase
M77man, thanks for that last bit of advice. It helped push me into getting the 7mm Mag.
I just ordered the Browning A-Bolt 7mm Mag Stainless Stalker from www.budsgunshop.com. With shipping, scope rings and a surcharge for using my credit card it ended up at $840.34 but they are sending me a free knife!
That gets me to $1,128.99 for the rifle and the Nikon Monarch 4-12X 40mm scope and the last thing I need to do is buy the new springs for the trigger. That will get me to right around $1,150 for what should be a fine gun that will last a long time and hold it's value well.
One last thing that helped me make my decision was a co-worker who told me to just remember that it isn't like I'm marrying the gun. If I don't like it I can get a divorce and it won't cost me an arm and a leg.
I figure if I don't get a 7mm Mag I will always wonder about it. This way I can form my own opinion and if I don't like it I can always sell it or trade it in for another caliber.
Thanks again for all the input.
Nathan

The trigger spring kit was $24.95 + $4.25 shipping for a total of $29.20 from www.brownells.com
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=16699&title=BROWNING+A-BOLT+TRIGGER+SPRING+KIT
That brings the grand total to $1,158.19.
I was reading back on the thread and I posted on December 31st that if I had to make the decision that day I would buy a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker in 7mm Mag so it looks like all I succeeded in doing is waiting 2 extra months and then buying the same gun. I came very close to buying the A-Bolt Hunter in wood grain in .30-06 though. That would have kept the total purchase price under $1,000.
Thanks again for the input along the way.

Congratulations!
A great gun, in a great caliber, with a great scope. You're all set!
Oh, wait a minute, what kind of mounts & rings are you getting?
We'll be awaiting your innaugural range report with baited breath!
Good Job!

I ordered Leupold STD RINGS MED Matte (49901) = $20.60 but I didn't order any mounts! I forgot I needed them. I'm trying to call and add them to my order right now.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Congrats on making a wise decision and getting the one that you really wanted, that's great! A little more pricier then I would've gone but not everyone is in the same pay range. I hear Browning A-Bolts are quality rifles and after twenty years or so of taking game with it, your investment will be well paid for. I'm also a fan of the stainless synthetic because you can take it anywhere with out as much worry. Besides, it comes glass bedded and free floated with an adjustable trigger so you really made a good choice. Me, I had to settle for the Ruger M77 and still need to get a trigger job, free float the barrel, and glass bed it which will come to about the same cost as your nice A-Bolt in the long run. Looks like you are all set and ready to go!
Again, congrats!
