Default I need a good budget rifle scope.

I bought a Winchester model 70 in 7mm WSM and it came with a Simmons 8-point scope. I took it off and replaced it with a Bushnell 3-9x40 and didn't like it either. I'd like to keep the price under $150. This is not my primary deer rifle and will only use it when hunting where longer shots (100 yds plus) present themselves. Thanks in advance for your input.

FOR $50 MORE LOOK AT THE NIKON BUCKMASTER SCOPE, IT HAS A LIFETIME WARRENTY, FOGPROOF, WATERPROOF, SHOCKPROOF. I HAVE IT IN 3-9X40 ON MY MUZZLELOADER, AND FOR $200 ITS A BRIGHT CRISP SCOPE.

I too have a buckmaster and it works fine on my 270, but I dont know which kind of Bushnell you have, but the trophy and only the trophy in that brand is a good scope. A trusted gunsmith and friend of mine will swear by em. hope that helps

Have you ever thought about a Swift?

They have a full lifetime warranty and they are very quick about warranty work although they hardly ever need it. The gunshop i work at sells more of them than any other scope.

A 4-12x40AO sells for 149.99.
Go to a shop and compare a nikon, swift, and a couple others in your price range and get the one you like best.

Bausch & Lomb has some good deals now on thier 3200 series scopes . I got a 3x9x50 for under $200.00 . Its a little over what you specified but well worth the difference.

My scope search has ended. At least til I buy yet another rifle. I was pressed for time in picking up the rifle I ordered ( Remington model 7400 in .270 win.) to get ready to leave for my hunting trip trip the next day, so I bought a Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5-10X40 for $100 bucks plus tax at the dealer. It is as bright and crisp as any scope I've looked at so far. I bounced it around in a gun boot on my four wheeler for a couple of days and took a doe @ 88 paces exactly where I was aiming, so maybe it will hold up. Thanks for all the advice and input.
Oh yeah, I sold the Winchester 7mm WSM that I was originally looking for a scope for. We just weren't meant for each other.
