Default Remington 798 & 799

Today I saw an ad for these new rifles.Anyone seen any testing or reviews on them? What kind of quality are they?
Why did Remington produce a Mauser action rifle? Just curious.

i think the reason they used the mauser action is because for many years the mauser action has been considered the best action ever built it bolt guns. thats what i ahve heard and saw for a long time in gun mags. and articles.

could it be to take up some of the market that has been lost due to Winchester not making the 70 anymore??? If Rem makes it in Lefthand I would buy one!

Why did Remington produce a Mauser action rifle?
Remington is not producing these rifles.Remington is importing these rifles from a Serbiancompany called Zastava. These rifleswere formerlysold under the Charles Daly brand name.

Remington seems to be on a "re badging" kick recently. First the Baikal shotguns and now these commercial Mausers.

Interesting. On the Remington website they say they "reworked" these rifles.

if you want a mauser-typeaction, i'd go for a CZ 550. but you might want to be quick, because the new 555 action will have a sako-style bolt face. god knows why they are changing a winning formula.
