Stevens Model 200
Has any one shot one of these? I have never had a Savage but found a Stevens 200 in .270 at Wally World for 255.00 and actualy like it. I like the looks of most Savage rifles. Especialy the 116SE they used to make. Looks like i could beat the crap out of it and still shoot it. I want to know how it shoots.

From what I have read, those Stevens are suppose to be quite decent. I don't think they come with the accutrigger, but, other than that, they are suppose to be a real good value for a real hunting tool.

I have one and to be truthful, I would not buy one again. I like remington rifles but I wanted a 223 to control the fox populating my lease and thought I'd go the cheep route for the first time as guns are concerned. I wasn't pleased with the bolt angle or lack of and my hand hits the scope when I cycle the bolt.

To tell the truth, the only bolt angle i was ever truly pleased with. Was on a Weatherby Predator Master in 7mm-08. I would have had to mount the scope to the side of the gun to hit it. I found it almost new for seven hundred bucks. I didn'tknow what a deal that was and didn't get it. I can deal with a little thing like bolt angle. So long as it shoots well.

Consistant 1.5 inch at a 100yds with a 30-06 and factory ammo isn't completely awful. But a .223 should do a lot better. I bet a new trigger set up from Brownells would shrink those groups.

Yea but that adds 50.00 on that 255.00 andputs me in the area of300-325 where I can pick up a discontinuedRemingtonADL, kind of why I wouldn't buy one again, or I would try the CZ model that are in the same price range as the Stevens but have adjustable triggers.

Accuracy wont be a problem , the 2 issues I have with the cheap savages are the triger , rough at best , and the blueing/finish , its bad , better wipe and oil every time you touch it or use it , because they will rust FAST if you dont . Ive got an older 243 savage 110 , a very similar gun to the stevens

It is the best deal in the bolt action rifle world. Period. But I think they are ugly and I LOVE IT!!!!
I have a savage 110 in 3006. Shoots an inch at 100 yards with $12.00 ammo. I don't know what it would do with handloads or match grade ammo and who cares. The Remington corelokts work just fine.
BTW the Stevens 200 is a Savage 110 action mated to a slightly different stock and without the acutrigger.
