This is a target shot with a browning ss,w/boss I traded for the fellow said it was a one holer, didn't think much about it because when you are tradeing they are all one holers.I put a scope on dialed the boss.zeroed and this is the first group I shot useing factory bullets.I am going to sell this one only because I stole (cheap)a ruger in 7 mag,it is easier to work up loads for because it doesn't have a boss on it.
Have one in 270 wsm and it doesn't have a boss and it is a shooter also.
Bought a wim classic and couldn't get it to shoot but after I had it bedded, trigger work, floated the barrel and recrowned it shot some 1/2 in groups.
Bought a tikka ss in 25/06 think it was one they let get by without shooting, but after rebedding and floating the barrel all the way back I think it is going to do ok.One thing about it I cannot figure out is the fps with a bullet I want to shoot in it if I decide to hunt with it,a 100 gr sierra useing Imr 4350,53.5 grs should give me around 3300 fps, first week I tried it I got a little over 3000,next 2 weeks I got around 3150,the next week I got a little over 3300,this past week it is back down to 3150.eack week was shot over 2 different chronys(pacts) and got about the same thing???? Useing a 85 gr BT it stays right around 3500 which is close to book speed useing R-19.Love shooting the rifle and it feels good too.May even buy another one in a different caliber. You will get some good shooters and some bad shooters in every brand,Saw one savage that wouldn't even fire first time at the range andone that the fellow couldn't even get on paper at 25 yds.But over all they have a rep for shooting out of the box.

Last night i was in sporting goods store, and happened to be looking at tikkas. One of the salesman came up to me and said he was a tikka guy. I told him i had a browning and he said he was worried about browning quality cause it was made over seas. I told him last time i checked Finland was other seas too. I showed him the barrel of a tikka, he kinda quit talking out of his butt after that. If browning and tikka quallity is the kind you get over seas, than maybe all the companies should have them made there.

I would choose the Browning over the Winchester. The Supershadow has the controlled round push feed action and not the controlled round feed design of the classic model 70. This is Winchester's entry level rifle with low pricing. I don't care for the stock or the cheap plastic magazine cover.

The Browning will have excellent fit and finish and I find it much more aesthetically pleasing than the Supershadow.

I would shoulder both rifles and if the Supershadow feels better in your hands then I would buy the one you like the most. I've never cared for Savage much because of the looks but I've seen many that are hyper-accurate. So take some advice and please yourself and not others. When it comes down to it you are spending the money and if you are pleased it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks.

I have shot a sako before but I did not know that they are with tikkas.I will say that sako rifles look nice and shoot good but they for some reason kick a bit harder than other bolt auction rifles I have shot.
ORIGINAL: stubblejumper

Both guns are the most acrate guns you can buy for the money.

So just how many guns have you firedto make such a statement.?How many guns have you owned?

My 30-06 can make a 1 inch group like nobodies business.

A 1" group is good for a factory rifle, but I have seen many factory rifles shoot much better than 1".All tikka rifles must shoot a 1" 5 shot group at 100 yards before leaving the factory, and the tikkas cost less.

If you are going to use manufacturers suggested prices for tikka,do the same for browning.

http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=0 13

If you are going to use the cheapest prices, try and buy a stainless a-bolt for the same price as the tikka below.

Looks like in your compairson you did not use the manufacturers suggested price ether. So lets compair the prices toa sellers that are not the manufactures.

Browning:30-06 A-Bolt Hunter=$583.00
http://www.ozarkguns.com/Browning/A-Bolt%20Hunter/hunter.htm

Tikka:30-06 T3 Hunter+$695.00
http://www.ozarkguns.com/rifles/tikka/tikkat3hunter.htm

As you can see I used the same store for both guns and the Tikka is $112.00 more than the Browning. So you are wroung about the Tikka being cheeper stubblejumper. They are both good looking guns and I cant wait to find someone with a Tikka so I can shoot one and see how it does in my test book.

So you are wroung about the Tikka being cheeper

Nice try quoting the sale price for the browning and the full price for the tikka, but unfortunately for you, neither myself or the rest of the people here are as silly as you would hope
.
Let's start with the manufacturers prices.

tikka t-3 hunter
http://www.berettausa.com/product/product_rifles_main.htm

$695 in all chamberings

browning a-bolt hunter

http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=0 13

$705,or $734,or$755 depending on chambering

now lets look at some stainless synthetic rifles.rifles

tikka t-3 stainless
http://www.berettausa.com/product/product_rifles_main.htm

$695 in all chamberings

browning stainless
http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=0 08

$895,or $926,0r $947 depending on chambering

Now lets look at the ozark sale prices

t-3 hunter
http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?value=001B&cat_id=035&type_id=0 08

$612 in all chamberings

a-bolt hunter

http://www.ozarkguns.com/Browning/A-Bolt%20Hunter/hunter.htm

$583 or $606

now the stainless rifles

t-3 stainless
http://www.ozarkguns.com/rifles/tikka/tikkat3stainless.htm

$585 all chamberings

a-bolt stainless stalker

http://www.ozarkguns.com/Browning/A-Bolt%20Stainless%20Stalker/stainless_stalker.htm

$744,or $766,or $782 depending on chambering

So comparing all manufacturers prices the cheapest wood blue t-3 in 30-06 is only slightly cheaper than the cheapest a-bolt available in 30-06.In the other chamberings, the t-3 is up to $60 cheaper.

The t-3 stainless is $200 cheaper than the a-bolt stainless in 30-06 and over $250 cheaper in other chamberings.

Using Ozark sales prices the a-bolt hunter in 30-06 is $29 cheaper than the t-3 hunter, but only $6 cheaper in other chamberings.

Using Ozark sale prices the t-3stainless is from $160 to $197 cheaper than the stainless stalker.

Then again the sale at ozark will end,if it hasn't already.

So if you use the manufacturers prices the t-3 is cheaper in both models and all chamberings. If you use the Ozark saleprices, the a-bolt hunter is slightly cheaper than the t-3 hunter, but the t-3 stainless ismuch cheaper than the a-bolt stainless.

If you average the prices of both the t-3 and the a-bolt to include both models and all chamberings, the t-3 is cheaper by well over $100.Therefore ,on average the t-3 is the cheaper rifle.

But then again,I really don't expect you to understand because after all,you had never heard of tikka, and you don't believe that they can shoot 1" groups as proven by the thread on tikka accuracy.

The manufactures prices are suggested retail prices only not what you would pay at the store like Ozark guns.So when you look at the Browning A-Bolt Hunter Model in 22-250 Rem,243,7mm-08,.308,25-06 Rem,.223 Rem,270 Win,30-06, Browning said that they are worth $705.00 and you can get them atOzark Guns for $583.00 which has $122.00 extra value acording to the MSRT.The A-Bolt Hunter Bodel in 7mm Rem Mag,300 Win Mag,300WSM,338Win Mag,270 WSM,7mm WSM,223 WSSM,243 WSM,325WSM the suggested retail price is $734.00 and the sale price is $606.00.So you extra Value is $128.00.Bertta Tikka T3 Hunterin all the above calibers not including the ones that Tikka dont make their rifle in has a sugested retail price of $695.00 which the sale price is 632.00 after shipping on Ozark Guns. The Extra value of the T3 is only $63.00.As you can see you get more extra value out of a Browning A-Bolt and it is cheeper than the T3 in the huner models.

Now for the Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker in all non mag calibers have a MSRP of $897.00 and the sale price at Ozark Guns is $741.00.Your Extra value is $156.00.The Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalkerin most of the Rem Mag,Win Mag and WSM the MSRP is $926.00 and Ozark Guns Sell them at $766.00.So you Extra Value is $160.00.The Tikka T3 in their light stainless modelin all calibers has a MSRP of $695 and Ozark Guns Sell them at $585.00.The Extra Value is $110.00.So in stainless you get a better value in the Browning than you do in the Tikka but the Tikka in stainless is a bit cheeper but it has less extra value than the a-bolt.
