I bought a Remington 710 in .270 two years ago. I can not deer hunt in Illinois with a rifle (only shotgun), but can go to Minnesota. Since I would not be using it very often I didn't want to spend an arm and leg on a gun. I have shot a box and a half through it and shot an 8 point at 170 yards.
I know it is not a high dollar gun, but does what I need it to do so far.

I have a 710 in 30-06; the bolt has come apart after shooting it not once but twice!!! Accuracy is average at best. Spend the extra money and get a better gun.

The 710 is the worst rifle in production, period.

i bought a 710 2 years ago, in a 7mm and have put probably a hundred rounds through it, i have killed a couple moose with it, one bull i dropped on the run at 350 yards, yeah the bolt is a little rough, but as with just about any long action you have to take it off your shoulder to reload it, and i have never had a problem reloading it with a moose downrange, it isnt going to be a tack driver, but you dont have to be able to touch bullets at 100 yards, to kill anything bigger than a butterfly, it shoots three inch groups with pretty good concistency at 200 yards which will take down just about anything

i figure its the shooter, not the rifle that makes the shot, and i bought the gun as a tool to bring down game, not to look pretty, and if it brings down moose for 4 or 5 years until i can afford to buy a nicer gun, then it did its job

I got a 710 in 243 caliber which i think just recently came out if i am not mistaken. the bolt on mine is pretty rough. one time at the range i couldn't even open the bolt to reload. i replaced the cheap bushnell scope with a better quality silver bushnell scope. it is dead on at 200 yds now. my opinion on the gun is that if you don't use it too much then you get what you paid for. if it is your primary weapon i would consider another one. i shot an 8 pt. buck with it. it did it's job and i am happy for that. now as in the quality of the gun, i don't think it will last long if you use it year round. spend at most $100 more and get either a howa package or the savage package. also get a cheaper priced mossberg 100 atr rifle and set it up with a awesome scope.

I owned one in .270 and shot about 100 rounds through it. I shot a buck with it last year, and my son shot his doe with it this year, so the gun is capable of putting meat on the table. With that said though, with only 100 rounds shot through it the reciever where the clip goes in was starting to crack so I traded it in on a Winchester .270. My 710 shot good, had good groups, the scope was descent for a $300 gun and it fed ok but the bolt would get really rough when the gun would heat up. And I am not talking heated up like 10 shots though it in a minute, I am talking 3 shots through it in 3 minutes. After owning one for myself and several of my friends owning them in various different calibers I think that the gun is an ok buy, but I also think that your money would be better spent on a used rifle or even a Savage.
